The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has officially named Kolkata Police civic volunteer Sanjay Roy as the 'sole accused' in the rape and murder of a woman doctor at RG Kar hospital in Kolkata. The agency outlined 11 key pieces of evidence in its charge sheet, including DNA reports, blood samples, and CCTV footage affirming Roy's presence at the crime scene.
According to the charge sheet, Roy not only had his DNA found on the victim's body but also sustained injuries that correspond with a struggle noted by the coroner. Furthermore, CCTV recordings and mobile phone location data place him within the premises on the night of the alleged crime.
Roy's arrest on August 10 came after Kolkata Police found critical evidence including blood-stained clothing. The Calcutta High Court subsequently transferred the case to the CBI, who detailed their findings in a charge sheet submitted to a local court on Monday.
