A district court has sentenced Mahendra Nath Pathak to life imprisonment for the murder of his 62-year-old disabled brother, Indrajit Pathak, stemming from an old feud, according to a lawyer's statement on Tuesday.
The conviction came with a fine of Rs 63,000, ordered by Additional District Sessions Judge Shailoj Chandra, ensuring Rs 50,000 is allocated to the victim's disabled daughter, Aanchal Pathak, aged 20, as compensation for her loss.
The tragic incident occurred on April 20 in Bhurdki village, where Mahendra attacked Indrajit with a wooden plank while he was bathing outside. The authorities were alerted by Aanchal and local villagers, leading to Mahendra's arrest and a swift five-month trial conclusion.
