A manager from Kochi-based Oscar Event Management was arrested on Monday following a security breach at an event that left Congress MLA Uma Thomas injured. The arrest ties back to security failures during a major dance event at the Jawaharlal Nehru International Stadium.
Initial investigations by the police revealed significant lapses in public safety arrangements by the organisers. The event, named 'Mridanga Naadam,' drew approximately 12,000 dancers, including actor-dancer Divya Unni, with the goal of setting a Guinness World Record.
An FIR has been registered against the organisers by Palarivattom police after a complaint from the MLA's personal staff. The managing director of the involved company has sought anticipatory bail from the High Court as the police inquiry continues.
