Iran is strategizing to renew its crude oil supply to India and broaden the trade basket, particularly focusing on the petro-chemical sector through Chabahar port, according to a senior Iranian official. This move is part of Tehran's efforts to strengthen economic ties with New Delhi.
Recognizing the unstable geopolitical landscape, particularly in Syria, the official emphasized the need for increased counter-terror cooperation with India as the potential for rising terrorist activities in West Asia becomes more pronounced.
The Iranian official noted that the development of the Chabahar port presents vast opportunities to elevate economic engagement despite the United States sanctions regime. In addition to oil, sectors like tourism and agriculture were highlighted as areas brimming with trade potential.
