Anna Shinde, father of Akshay Shinde, who was allegedly killed in a police shootout, has raised questions about the official account. Anna expressed that the family would have respected a court's decision following a fair trial for his son's sexual assault case but doubts the police's claim that Akshay grabbed an officer's gun and fired.
''We want justice,'' remarked Anna Shinde, emphasizing that his son, who was afraid of fireworks, could not have snatched a pistol and opened fire. He further mentioned that the police had filed a charge sheet and Akshay could have faced trial, adding, ''We are poor people; we don't have a voice.''
The family is set to collect Akshay's body on Wednesday for last rites. The body, initially subjected to post-mortem at state-run J J hospital, was later sent to a civic-run hospital in Kalwa, Thane district.
