Authorities have indicted a man, Ryan Wesley Routh, on charges of attempting to assassinate former President Donald Trump. The indictment comes after a methodical plot was uncovered, where Routh staked out Trump's Florida golf course for 12 hours.
Routh had previously faced charges related to federal firearms offenses. However, the Justice Department upgraded these charges, citing evidence that Routh aimed a rifle through shrubbery at Trump's West Palm Beach golf course while Trump was playing.
In addition to the physical evidence, authorities recovered a note wherein Routh expressed his intent to kill The Republican nominee on that day.
