A Ukrainian drone attack ignited a fire and led to the partial evacuation of residents in Toropets, a town in Russia's Tver region. Regional authorities disclosed the incident on Wednesday.

Firefighters are striving to control the fire, according to Igor Rudenya, the governor of the region located northwest of Moscow. He did not specify what was burning. A 2018 report from the RIA state news agency indicated that Russia was constructing an arsenal for storing missiles, ammunition, and explosives in Toropets. The 1,000-year-old town has a population of just over 11,000.

No casualties have been reported from the Wednesday attack. Schools and kindergartens were shifted online in the Zapadnodvinsky district, which borders the Toropetsky district, as per the district administration's announcement on the VKontakte social network.

Russian air defense reportedly destroyed 54 drones launched by Ukraine overnight, targeting five western Russian regions, with no damages reported. Although the defense ministry's report did not mention the Tver region, it's noteworthy as Russia's officials often downplay the extent of Ukrainian attack damage.

Kyiv has made significant strides in domestic drone production, intensifying attacks on Russian territory. The most significant drone assault on Russian land occurred in September, hitting Moscow, causing fatalities, and disrupting air travel.
