The CBI is planning to conduct a narco analysis test on Sanjay Roy, who was arrested in connection with the alleged rape and murder of a doctor at R G Kar Medical College and Hospital, an agency officer disclosed on Friday.
The city-based Sealdah court has been appealed to by the central probe agency seeking permission to conduct this test on Roy, he further mentioned.
'This is primarily to cross-check whether Roy is telling the truth. The narco analysis test will help us verify his version,' the officer told PTI.
During the narco analysis test, a drug called sodium pentothal will be injected into Roy's body, inducing a hypnotic state which neutralizes his imagination, explained the CBI officer.
'In most cases, the accused gives true information,' he added.
The hearing regarding the CBI's appeal is anticipated to take place this afternoon.
The CBI has already conducted a polygraph test on Roy inside the Presidency Correctional Home.
