Citing the severity of the crimes, the court dismissed defense arguments for leniency. Government Counsel Chandra Bhan Singh noted that the sentencing also comes with fines, and additional jail time for non-payment. A minor involved has been referred to a juvenile court, while one accused died during the trial.
