CBI Grills Trinamool MLA Sudipto Roy in RG Kar Murder Case

CBI questioned Trinamool Congress MLA Sudipto Roy regarding the RG Kar rape and murder case. Roy, also a doctor and president of the RG Kar Patient's Welfare Committee, cooperated with the investigation, which follows a Calcutta High Court order. The CBI previously arrested former RG Kar principal over alleged financial misconduct.

CBI sleuths on Thursday questioned Trinamool Congress MLA Sudipto Roy in connection with the RG Kar rape and murder case.

On Friday afternoon, a team of CBI officials arrived at Roy's residence in the Sinthee area on the northern outskirts of Kolkata to question him about their ongoing investigation into the case.

Roy, who is also a doctor and the president of the RG Kar Patient's Welfare Committee, stated that he had cooperated with the central agency's sleuths. 'CBI sleuths had come to question me regarding the investigation into the death of a student at RG Kar hospital last month. I cooperated with them,' said Roy, the MLA from Serampore assembly constituency.

Protests by doctors erupted after the body of a postgraduate trainee was discovered at the hospital on August 9.

A civic volunteer has been arrested in connection with the case, and the CBI is conducting a probe following a Calcutta High Court order. The agency had previously arrested former principal of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, Dr Sandip Ghosh, for alleged financial misconduct.
