The Madhya Pradesh High Court has issued notices to the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) and the state government regarding a public interest litigation (PIL) demanding urgent repairs and maintenance of two national highways. The PIL, led by Jabalpur lawyer Pranjal Tiwari, highlights the hazardous conditions of these roads due to potholes and the presence of cattle.

Acting Chief Justice Sanjeev Sachdeva and Justice Vinay Saraf issued the court order on Tuesday. Tiwari's representative, Pramod Singh Tomar, stated that the petition specifically targets sections of NH-43 (Jabalpur-Gwalior via Sagar) and NH-45 (Jabalpur-Bhopal), while highlighting the recurring problem of cattle sitting on the highways.

Despite tolls being levied on these routes, users face unsafe driving conditions, leading to accidents and fatalities. The court will hear the case in further detail on September 26.
