India's Kapil Parmar faced a setback as he lost to Iran's S Banitaba Khorram Abadi in the 60kg (J1) men's para judo semifinals at the Paralympics, with a final score of 0-10. Parmar will now compete for the bronze medal.

The 24-year-old judoka, who previously won a silver medal at the 2022 Asian Games, successfully defeated Venezuela's Marco Dennis Blanco with a score of 10-0 in the quarterfinals. However, Parmar received a yellow card in both contests on Thursday.

In parallel, India's Kokila experienced defeats at the hands of Kazakhstan's Akmaral Nauatbek and Ukraine's Yuliia Ivanytska in the women's 48kg J2 class quarterfinals and repechage rounds respectively. In the J2 category, athletes possess partial eyesight while J1 athletes have no or very low visual activity.
