Jamaican Prime Minister Andrew Holness announced on Tuesday a significant move to assist Haiti in fighting its powerful gang problem, beginning with 24 military and police personnel.
The initial deployment will arrive in Haiti on Thursday to establish a command structure, paving the way for further contingents.
Earlier in March, Jamaica committed to sending a total of 200 personnel for this crucial but long-delayed international security mission.
