Senior Congress leader and former Chhattisgarh minister Mohammad Akbar, along with three others, has been booked for allegedly abetting the suicide of a government school teacher in the Balod district, according to a police official.
On Sunday, Akbar, along with Madaar Khan alias Saleem Khan, Harendra Netam, and Pradip Thakur, was charged under sections 108 (abetment of suicide) and 3(5) (common intention) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita at Dondi police station. The charges stem from a suicide note left by the deceased teacher, Devendra Thakur, naming them as responsible for his death.
Akbar has denied the allegations, asserting that he has no connection with the other accused and was being implicated falsely. Investigations into the case are ongoing, with no arrests made so far.
