KYIV, Sept 7 (Reuters) - Russian shelling claimed five lives in the Donetsk region of eastern Ukraine on Saturday, according to local officials. Governor Vadym Filashkin confirmed three deaths and four injuries in Kostyantynivka, blaming the attacks for significant property damage.
Authorities also reported that two men in their 50s were killed near Toretsk as shelling continued to affect the region. Filashkin detailed that the victims in Kostyantynivka ranged in age from 24 to 69, with a multi-storey block, administrative building, and shop enduring damage.
The siege has prompted a mandatory evacuation for families with children from Kostyantynivka due to escalating threats. The industrial town, once home to 70,000 residents, has been frequently targeted by missiles and artillery throughout the conflict.
