Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan announced a significant Rs 3,448 crore relief package on Friday to aid Andhra Pradesh and Telangana in their recent flood crisis.
During his visit to Telangana, Chouhan revealed that this assistance would be sourced from the State Disaster Relief Fund (SDRF), incorporating contributions from the central government. He assured the immediate disbursement of these funds to mitigate the impact on affected communities.
Chouhan also committed to providing fertilisers and seeds for the next crop cycle and urged banks to halt loan recoveries from farmers during this critical period. The minister, who conducted an aerial survey of the flooded areas, emphasized that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is closely monitoring the situation.
