Arunachal Pradesh Police have apprehended a man suspected of sexually assaulting a 10-year-old girl in the region, an officer confirmed on Friday. Capital Superintendent of Police Rohit Rajbir Singh announced that the accused was taken into custody in West Siang district on Thursday.
The investigation commenced on September 3, after police were presented with a written complaint from a woman alleging that her daughter had been sexually assaulted by an unknown perpetrator on August 31. The case was duly registered at the Itanagar Women police station. Leveraging CCTV footage and other technical surveillance methods, the investigation team successfully identified the suspect, who had been employed as a laborer in Naharlagun and absconded after the incident, according to the SP.
A specialized police unit was subsequently mobilized to West Siang district, where they captured the suspect, Singh stated.
