Police in Maharashtra's Thane district have registered a murder case after discovering the body of a man on a roadside, an official said on Friday.
A passerby alerted authorities after spotting the body in the Ghodpada locality of Bhiwandi on Thursday. The deceased, estimated to be around 40 years old, appears to have been strangled, the official reported. The body has since been sent for post-mortem examination.
An FIR has been issued under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) sections 103-1 (Murder) and 238 (causing disappearance of evidence), according to the official.
