Seven Indian fishermen arrested by the Sri Lankan Navy for allegedly poaching in the island nation's waters were repatriated on Wednesday, according to a statement from the Indian mission.

The Indian High Commission celebrated their return with a post on X, announcing, "On their way home! 07 Indian fishermen have been successfully repatriated from Sri Lanka."

Last month, 30 Indian fishermen, who were similarly arrested, returned to India. The fishermen issue continues to be a contentious topic in bilateral relations, with frequent incidents reported in the Palk Strait. According to an official release, this year alone, 333 Indian fishermen have been detained by the Sri Lankan Navy.
