Donald Trump was confirmed safe after gunshots were reported near him on Sunday afternoon in Florida, according to his campaign and the US Secret Service. The specifics of the gunshots, including whether they were targeted, remain unclear.

The Secret Service announced an ongoing investigation, noting the incident happened shortly before 2 pm. "The former president is safe," clarified the Secret Service without providing further details.

About two months earlier, Trump survived an assassination attempt during a rally in Pennsylvania, with a bullet grazing his ear. He was back in Florida after a series of events on the West Coast, including a rally in Las Vegas and a fundraiser in Utah. No injuries were reported, affirmed the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office.

The White House stated that President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris have been briefed about the situation and would be updated regularly. Both expressed relief that Trump was unharmed.

An anonymous law enforcement official revealed that authorities are investigating whether the shots were fired near Trump's West Palm Beach golf course or on its grounds. Senator Lindsey Graham, a close ally of Trump, tweeted that Trump was in good spirits following the incident.

Recently, Trump has increased his security measures after the July assassination attempt. This includes reinforced security at Trump Tower and speaking behind bulletproof glass at outdoor rallies.

Inquiries about the current security status of Trump's running mate, Ohio Senator JD Vance, remain unanswered.

Eyewitness Max Egusquiza described an intense emergency response with unmarked SUVs and numerous police cars around Trump's golf course.
