Thousands of people, including doctors and paramedics, created an unprecedented 13-km human chain on Tuesday, demanding justice for the deceased woman medic of R G Kar Hospital. The peaceful protest, which took place along Eastern Metropolitan Bypass, did not disrupt vehicular traffic.

Participants waved the tricolour and held placards reading 'For how long we have to wait for justice,' 'Hang the rapists,' and 'Justice for our sister.' Commuters, office goers, and local residents also joined the demonstration, reflecting broad public support.

Simultaneously, Left Front activists held a rally demanding the resignation of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee over alleged mishandling of the case. Police faced challenges controlling the protesters who broke through barricades and regrouped after being dispersed.
