In a significant step towards developing grassroots leadership, the Panchayati Raj Ministry is organizing transformative Management Development Programmes (MDP) for elected representatives and functionaries of Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs).
The five-day residential programmes are hosted at the Indian Institute of Management in Bodh Gaya and Amritsar, serving participants from states like Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, and Tamil Nadu, among others. The initiative, which began on Monday and will conclude on August 6, aims to enhance leadership, management, and governance skills.
The programme is geared towards presidents and vice presidents of district panchayats, panchayat samiti pramukhs, sarpanchs, and various panchayat officials. The ministry emphasized the critical role of panchayats in realizing 'Viksit Bharat' (Developed India) and noted that the programme focuses on augmenting Own Source Revenue (OSR) for financial independence and improved service delivery to rural populations.
