Finland to Ban Property Purchases by Russians
The Finnish government plans to prohibit Russians from buying property in Finland. Defence Minister Antti Hakkanen announced the proposal aimed at limiting property transactions with Russian ties. However, exceptions will be made for dual citizens and Russians with permanent residence in Finland.
The Finnish government is looking to block Russians from purchasing property within its borders, according to an announcement made by Defence Minister Antti Hakkanen on Monday.
Hakkanen revealed that a proposal is being sent out for consultations to enforce a ban targeting property transactions involving Russian backgrounds.
Some exemptions would apply, allowing dual citizens and Russians holding permanent residence in Finland to buy property, Hakkanen added.
