The Madhya Pradesh BJP on Friday accused the Congress of capitalizing on the Katni incident, in which a woman and her grandson were assaulted by Government Railway Police (GRP) personnel, for political gains. The incident led to the suspension of six GRP personnel, including the police station in-charge, after the video surfaced online.

Congress leaders, targeting the state government, held a sit-in protest at a Katni police station, demanding an FIR against the accused. State BJP chief V D Sharma stated that action was promptly taken by suspending the involved personnel as soon as the video came to notice.

Sharma further criticized Congress for remaining silent on crimes in other states, such as the rape-murder of a trainee doctor in Kolkata, accusing them of a double standard and appeasement politics. He called out top Congress leaders, including Rahul Gandhi, for their relative silence on such issues.
