Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu announced in the Vidhan Sabha on Thursday that several government offices would be relocated from Shimla to other districts to alleviate congestion in the state capital and provide accommodation for government employees.
Responding to a query from Congress leader Sanjay Rattan, Sukhu noted that numerous vacant buildings in various districts could be repurposed for these offices. He added that constructing new houses in Shimla is not feasible at present, given the current shortage of available space.
The Chief Minister also mentioned that while 47 houses are currently unoccupied in Shimla, they are not in livable condition. Residential accommodations will be allocated to ministers and officers as part of the government's decongestion strategy.
