Senior UMC Officer Booked for Sexual Harassment in Thane

A senior officer of the Ulhasnagar Municipal Corporation in Maharashtra's Thane has been booked for allegedly sexually harassing a junior staff member. The 42-year-old clerk reported frequent inappropriate conduct by the 46-year-old officer. An FIR has been registered, and an investigation is ongoing.

A senior officer from the Ulhasnagar Municipal Corporation in Thane district, Maharashtra, is facing allegations of sexual harassment from a junior staff member.

The 42-year-old clerk lodged a complaint asserting that the 46-year-old officer frequently called her to his cabin under various pretexts, touched her inappropriately, and sought sexual favors between April 2022 and July 2023.

An FIR was filed under IPC sections 354, 354(a), and 509 on Tuesday. The victim cited her father's battle with cancer as the reason for the delay in reporting the incidents. The probe is currently underway.
