In a bold daylight heist, five armed men looted over Rs 2 crore in valuables from a jewellery shop in Majorganj on Wednesday. The robbery took place mere meters from a local police station, raising serious concerns about security in the area.

According to eyewitnesses, the robbers entered the showroom of jeweller Bharatji Soni around noon, using two bikes for their getaway. While two men held the shop owner and his son at gunpoint, the other three hurriedly loaded their bags with cash and jewellery, fleeing the scene within 10 minutes.

Superintendent of Police Somen Barma stated that six teams from the crime branch have been assigned to crack the case. Authorities are reviewing CCTV footage from the shop, which has surfaced online, to identify the culprits. Panic has gripped local jewellers, prompting many to shut down their shops temporarily.
