China on Tuesday strongly condemned the terrorist attacks in Pakistan's restive Balochistan province that resulted in the deaths of 37 individuals. The Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson, Lin Jian, asserted during a daily press briefing that China opposes all forms of terrorism and remains committed to supporting Islamabad's counter-terrorism measures.
These attacks, carried out by heavily armed Baloch gunmen, come amid a visit by a senior Chinese military official to Pakistan to evaluate security concerns, particularly those surrounding the $60 billion China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). The CPEC has long been a target for Baloch insurgents, including attacks on Chinese nationals working in Pakistan.
Following the incidents, Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif met with General Li Qiaoming of China's People's Liberation Army. Both leaders emphasized the strategic cooperation and strong defense ties between their countries, vowing to enhance bilateral efforts to safeguard regional stability and combat terrorism.
