Karnataka Home Minister G Parameshwara stated on Tuesday that a decision concerning the transfer of Kannada actor Darshan Thoogudeepa to another prison would be made within a couple of days. Darshan is currently held in Parappana Agrahara Central Jail on charges related to the Renukaswamy murder case.

The announcement comes after images and videos of Darshan enjoying 'special treatment' in prison, including being seen with a rowdy-sheeter and making a video call, went viral on Sunday. As a result, nine prison officials, including the Chief Superintendent, were suspended over these lapses.

An IPS officer has been appointed to conduct a thorough review of state prisons following these incidents. The minister emphasized that the prison authorities, in consultation with court officials, would ultimately decide on the transfer of Darshan and the co-accused. Despite the controversies, Parameshwara assured the public that all guilty parties would be punished according to the law.
