In a significant move to tighten their grip on terrorism in the region, Jammu and Kashmir Police on Saturday announced a cash reward of Rs 3 lakh for any information leading to the capture of a wanted Lashkar-e-Taiba militant.

The individual in question, identified as Sumama alias Illyas alias Babar, is a commander in the Pakistan-based terror outfit and is currently wanted under cases registered under the UAPA and IPC, according to a police spokesperson.

Babar has been actively involved in radicalizing, motivating, and recruiting young individuals on this side of the border through various social media platforms, including encrypted applications, the spokesperson noted. Moreover, Babar has been using local Kashmiris as couriers to raise and distribute funds to different groups for executing terrorist activities in the valley. The police have assured that the identity of anyone who provides valuable information will be kept confidential.
