One Indian Army soldier was injured on Monday at Jammu's Sunjwan military station after terrorists opened fire from outside the base, according to officials. Defence authorities confirmed the attack was executed from a stand-off distance.
Further details are awaited. On Thursday, the Indian Army successfully eliminated three terrorists attempting to infiltrate across the Line of Control (LoC) in the Machhal and Tangdhar sectors of Jammu and Kashmir.
Credible intelligence inputs, corroborated by the J-K Police, indicated likely infiltration attempts from these areas. Based on the inputs, Indian Army troops, alongside JKP and BSF, laid ambushes on likely infiltration routes in both sectors. Suspicious movement was detected on the evening of August 28, leading to a prolonged exchange of fire till the morning of August 29.
This marks the sixth operation in the Kupwara district this year alone, resulting in the elimination of 10 terrorists, including foreign infiltrators, Indian Army officials stated.
