In a crucial verdict, a local court has sentenced Darshan Singh and his mother, Kamlesh Devi, to life imprisonment in a dowry-related murder case. The Additional District Sessions Court judge, Abhay Srivastava, on Friday, also imposed a fine of Rs 15,000 on each of the convicts.

Assistant district government advocate Anoop Koharwala disclosed that Pramod Kumar, the victim Priyanka's father, initially filed the complaint in 2021. Kumar alleged that his daughter was harassed for dowry demands by Singh and his mother, leading to her murder.

Based on the prosecution's evidence, including rope marks found on Priyanka's neck in the post-mortem examination, and testimonies from seven witnesses, the court delivered its sentence.
