Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra launched a scathing critique of the central government on Friday, targeting the goods and services tax (GST) policies. She stated that small businesses and MSMEs are struggling under the weight of the BJP-led administration's disastrous measures.
Highlighting an incident where the owner of Sree Annapoorna restaurant in Coimbatore was allegedly humiliated for asking a question about GST, Priyanka claimed that the businessman was forced to issue a public apology, describing it as an intimidation tactic by the government.
Priyanka argued that while the BJP government grants tax cuts and loan waivers to large businesses, small enterprises are left to tackle complex GST rules and other financial setbacks like demonetisation. She urged the government to introduce a fairer, simpler GST that would benefit everyone, not just the wealthy.
