WRI India CEO Madhav Pai highlighted the urgent need for MSMEs to embrace a green transition to withstand climate risks. Speaking on Wednesday, Pai stressed that most MSMEs are vulnerable to climate shocks and must adopt greener practices to ensure their sustainability.

In an interview with PTI, Pai called for comprehensive economic viability and incentive programs, along with capacity building and skilling initiatives, to facilitate this critical transition. He cited the example of outlawing pet coke in textile factories amid stringent pollution regulations.

Pai also emphasized the importance of increasing capital and designing financial instruments, like the Mudra scheme, to improve the borrowing capabilities of MSMEs, ensuring their progress towards a greener future. He noted that effective skilling programs and financial tools are crucial for MSMEs to survive in the long term.
