A 13-year-old girl from Maharashtra's Thane district ran away from home after facing reprimands from her mother and elder brother for not attending school, confirmed officials on Saturday.
The incident transpired at approximately 10 pm on August 21, according to an official from the Manpada police station in Dombivli. After being rebuked, the girl took a book, told her family she was heading to a friend's house to study, and never returned.
Unable to find her, the family lodged a police complaint on Friday. Authorities have registered a case under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) section 137(2) for kidnapping and are actively working to locate the missing girl.
