Sachin Tendulkar Applauds Maharashtra's Decision to Honor Coach with Shivaji Park Statue

The six-feet statue will honor Achrekar's impact on cricket and his students' lives. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation will oversee its construction and maintenance.

Sachin Tendulkar, the legendary cricketer, on Thursday commended the Maharashtra government's decision to commission a statue of his childhood coach, Ramakant Achrekar, at the iconic Shivaji Park.
The urban development department approved the proposal for a six-feet statue on Wednesday, which will be placed near Gate No. 5 of the park. Tendulkar credited Shivaji Park and Achrekar for shaping his cricketing career.
The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation will be responsible for the statue's construction and upkeep, with independent funds not available for the project. Achrekar, a Dronacharya Award recipient, coached 12 India players, including Tendulkar.
