In a significant move, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Kyiv, urging President Volodymyr Zelenskiy to commence talks with Russia to end the devastating war. Modi's call for dialogue comes amid heightened conflicts, including Moscow's slow advances in eastern Ukraine and Kyiv's recent cross-border offensive into Russia.
Addressing both leaders, Modi stressed the importance of diplomacy, stating, "The road to resolution can only be found through dialogue and diplomacy." Offering India's assistance, he added, "I want to assure you that India is ready to play an active role in any efforts towards peace."
President Zelenskiy, committed to ending the war on Ukraine's terms, underscored Ukraine's priority for a just peace. While Ukraine considers another international summit to further peace talks, Moscow's recent military actions cloud the prospects for immediate negotiations.
