AAP leader Sanjay Singh on Thursday lauded the Allahabad High Court's decision to stay his three-month sentence from a 2001 protest case, calling it a 'triumph of truth'.
The Rajya Sabha MP expressed his gratitude towards senior counsel and BSP leader Satish Chandra Mishra, who represented him during the high court proceedings.
'The decision by the honourable high court vindicates the truth. I extend my heartfelt gratitude to senior advocate, respected Shri Satish Mishra ji. Satyamev Jayate,' Singh remarked in a post on X.
Singh had been sentenced to three months in rigorous imprisonment by the MP-MLA court of Sultanpur on January 11 last year for obstructing public roads and inciting violence during a 2001 protest. Although his appeal was dismissed, the high court has now stayed the sentence, allowing for further hearings.
The order was passed by Justice K S Pawar, who stated that execution of the sentence will remain stayed until further orders.
