The family court in Indore has denied a 28-year-old woman's plea for alimony from her estranged husband due to her failure to provide clear details of her income and bank account. The court cited a Supreme Court ruling and noted that the woman's undisclosed earnings made it impossible to determine her financial needs.

In a notable judgement, the family court in Indore declined a 28-year-old woman's request for alimony from her estranged husband, pointing to her lack of transparent income and bank account disclosure.
The woman had petitioned for Rs 50,000 monthly for herself and her three-year-old daughter, following their 2021 separation, two years after marriage. The court, led by principal judge NP Singh, referenced a Supreme Court ruling in its August 7 decision, which became public on August 22.
The court observed that the woman, a commerce graduate, had not provided sufficient banking details, suggesting she had an undisclosed income source. This lack of financial clarity led the judge to rule out any alimony, emphasizing that accurate financial information is crucial for determining child maintenance responsibilities.
