Ramanjit Singh, the mastermind behind the 2016 Nabha jailbreak, has been extradited by Hong Kong authorities, officials announced on Thursday. Singh, also known as Romi, was flown to India by a Punjab Police team and was expected to arrive late in the afternoon.

According to officials, Romi was a key figure in the Nabha jailbreak incident, facilitating the escape of six notorious criminals, including two terrorists. Punjab Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav confirmed the extradition on 'X,' acknowledging the relentless efforts of multiple agencies involved.

Yadav praised the collaboration between the Punjab Police, the CBI, Ministry of Home Affairs, Ministry of External Affairs, and other central agencies for their role in Romi's return. The extradition proceedings had been initiated in 2018 under a Mutual Legal Assistance Treaty with Hong Kong.
