An anti-corruption court in Pakistan has granted a significant reprieve to Bushra Bibi, the wife of incarcerated former Prime Minister Imran Khan, by discharging her from 12 cases related to the May 9 riots.

Violence had erupted following Khan's arrest in Islamabad for a corruption probe. The hearing, overseen by Anti-terrorism court Judge Malik Ejaz Asif at Adiala Jail Rawalpindi, dismissed the police's request for Bibi's remand to further investigate her alleged involvement in the attacks, including one on the General Headquarters (GHQ).

Bibi's lawyer, Salman Safdar, stated outside the court that the allegations were based on legally insufficient testimonies, and the court's verdict might impact the cases against Khan, who faces over 200 charges. Despite securing bail and having some convictions overturned, Khan remains incarcerated.
