Delhi High Court Calls for Dairy Colony Overhaul

The Delhi High Court has directed the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) to explore the involvement of cooperatives like Amul or Mother Dairy in setting up a milk collection center at Ghogha Dairy. This move aims to ensure the provision of healthy milk to Delhi residents and improve the living conditions of dairy owners.

In a significant directive, the Delhi High Court has urged the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) to involve cooperatives such as Amul or Mother Dairy in creating a milk collection center at Ghogha Dairy. This initiative aims to provide a sustainable consumer base for the dairy owners and ensure the health and well-being of the next generation of Delhi residents.

The court has asked city authorities to submit a comprehensive plan by August 25 regarding the allocation of plots in the Ghogha Dairy colony for those willing to relocate from Bhalswa Dairy. Key infrastructure, including grazing areas, a biogas plant, and a veterinary hospital, will also be developed.

The court has emphasized that the relocation of dairies next to landfill sites is crucial to prevent the contamination of milk. The court's focus is on the health, hygiene, and safety of Delhi's citizens, as well as the prevention of cruelty to animals.
