Collins Jumaisi, a man suspected of murdering several women and disposing of their bodies in an old quarry, has escaped from police custody in Nairobi. The incident occurred on Tuesday, according to police spokesperson Resila Onyango.

Jumaisi was initially apprehended last month after six bodies were found wrapped in plastic bags in Kware quarry, now a dumpsite. Along with Jumaisi, 12 Eritrean nationals also managed to break out of Gigiri police station.

The suspect reportedly confessed to killing 42 women, including his wife. However, his lawyer claims that Jumaisi was tortured into making this confession, an allegation that prosecutors strongly deny.
