Tragic Assault in Leicester Park: Murder Investigation Underway

An 80-year-old Indian-origin man walking his dog in Franklin Park, Braunstone Town, near Leicester, was fatally assaulted, leading to the arrest of five children, police said Tuesday.

The victim, locally identified as Bhim Sen Kohli, succumbed to his injuries Monday night. Leicestershire Police, after conducting several inquiries, have detained a 14-year-old boy and girl, along with three 12-year-olds, on murder suspicion.

Detective Inspector Emma Matts urged witnesses to come forward and assist with the investigation. The police have acknowledged prior contact with the victim, prompting a referral to the Independent Office of Police Conduct (IOPC).
