A Russian Embassy employee's mobile phone was snatched by an unidentified man near the Red Fort in Delhi's Kashmere Gate area, authorities reported on Tuesday.
The event happened around 4:30 pm on Saturday, as the woman, a Russian national, was capturing photos near a cemetery behind the historic site, police disclosed.
Following the theft, the woman visited the Kashmere Gate police station but chose not to give a statement, opting instead to send an email about the incident, according to a police officer.
The police have taken cognizance of the incident and filed an FIR under Section 304 (2)/3/5 (snatching) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at the Kashmere Gate station.
Authorities are scrutinizing CCTV footage from the crime scene and have identified a suspect. Multiple teams have been deployed to apprehend the perpetrator, officials stated.
