The Delhi BJP on Friday demanded the resignation of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, arguing that he is unable to perform his duties under the bail conditions set for his release in an excise policy case.

Earlier in the day, the Supreme Court granted bail to Kejriwal in a corruption case filed by the CBI in connection with an alleged excise policy scam. The court stipulated that the conditions set in a related ED case would also apply to the CBI case.

As part of the bail conditions, Kejriwal is barred from visiting his office or the Delhi Secretariat, and cannot sign any official documents unless he obtains sanction from the lieutenant governor.

Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva argued that despite securing bail, Kejriwal should step down from his position. He contended that the Supreme Court's validation of Kejriwal's CBI arrest indicates his lack of moral authority to continue as chief minister.

Kejriwal was initially arrested by the ED on March 21 in a money laundering case linked to the excise policy issue. He received interim bail from the Supreme Court. However, on June 26, he was arrested by the CBI in a separate case while still under judicial custody in Tihar jail.
