Zelenskiy Challenges Kremlin's Threats, Calls For Looser Weapon Restrictions
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy declared his country's strike on Russia's Kursk region as evidence that Kremlin threats are mere bluffs. He urged allies to allow the use of foreign-supplied weapons on Russian soil. Despite this incursion, Ukrainian forces face challenges defending key areas, with strategic cities like Pokrovsk under severe attack.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy on Monday asserted that his country's assault on Russia's Kursk region demonstrated the inaccuracy of Kremlin threats of retaliation. He called on Kyiv's allies to ease restrictions on the use of foreign-supplied weapons.
Zelenskiy announced that Ukrainian forces now control over 1,250 square kilometers and 92 settlements in the region. Meanwhile, Russia reported that Ukraine had struck a third bridge, complicating its defense efforts.
Despite this offensive, Ukraine's troops face severe battles elsewhere, particularly in the strategic eastern city of Pokrovsk. The ongoing conflict has displaced thousands and strained municipal services, highlighting the ongoing human and material costs of the war.
