The armed wings of Hamas and Islamic Jihad claimed responsibility for a bomb blast near a synagogue in Tel Aviv, termed a terrorist attack by Israeli police and Shin Bet. The incident occurred just as U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken arrived to push for a Gaza ceasefire.
The armed wings of Hamas and Islamic Jihad have claimed responsibility for a bomb blast near a synagogue in Tel Aviv. Israeli police and the Shin Bet intelligence agency have categorized this as a terrorist attack.
The explosion resulted in the death of the individual carrying the bomb and injured a passerby late Sunday. In a statement, the Brigades hinted at more 'martyrdom operations' as long as Israel's 'occupation's massacres and assassination policy continue,' following the killing of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran.
The incident occurred about an hour after U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken arrived in Tel Aviv to negotiate a ceasefire in the ongoing 10-month war between Israel and Hamas. The conflict, initiated on Oct. 7 last year by Hamas gunmen, has resulted in significant casualties and destruction in Gaza. Concerns of an escalation across the region have grown amid threats from Iran following Haniyeh's assassination.
