Authorities have arrested five individuals in connection with the alleged gang-rape of a teenage girl aboard a Uttarakhand government bus that arrived from Delhi, according to officials.
Dehradun Senior Superintendent of Police Ajay Singh confirmed that those arrested include the bus driver and conductor. The incident reportedly occurred on August 12, but police were notified only on Saturday evening, leading to immediate action.
CCTV footage helped identify and apprehend the five individuals, who have been identified as Dharmendra Kumar, Rajpal, Devendra, Rajesh Kumar Sonkar, and Ravi Kumar. The bus has been impounded, and a forensic team is gathering evidence.
The case came to light when the Dehradun Child Welfare Committee noticed the girl, aged 16-17, alone at the Interstate Bus Terminal late at night. During counseling, she revealed the alleged rape, prompting a police complaint. Authorities are now investigating the case under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
