Rahul Gandhi Slams Lateral Entry in Government Posts as 'Anti-National Step'

Rahul Gandhi, Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, on Sunday termed the government's move to recruit public servants through lateral entry as an 'anti-national step.' He alleged that this method openly snatches away reservations meant for SCs, STs, and OBCs.

Gandhi accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of attacking the Constitution by recruiting public servants through the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh instead of the Union Public Service Commission. He claimed that this method pushes the underprivileged further away from top posts.

The controversy arose after the Union Public Service Commission advertised 45 positions, in the biggest tranche of lateral recruitment being undertaken by the Centre. Gandhi vowed that the INDIA bloc would strongly oppose this 'anti-national step' and asserted that it damages both the administrative structure and social justice.
